HITECH Implications for Hospitals and Physicians

This education module covers ARRA/HITECH from a hospital and physician viewpoint, including physician integration, interoperability, HIEs, RHIOs, and Stark/Safe Harbor issues. The module includes a review of key standards and a road map for attaining meaningful use of electronic health records by 2015 to meet the government program requirements. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the workflow, functional and user adoption issues related to clinical systems and systems interoperability, and the challenges of meeting the meaningful use requirements. The workshop will help IT application vendors understand implications for their solutions and to map them to customer needs.
